Why does a student have to attend on non-appointment days?

Students who attend school daily earn credits at twice the rate of those who do not. Attending class provides the chance for your student to receive beneficial verbal instructions regarding their subjects and course work. Daily attendance allows us to monitor a student’s progress.

Are there other contract-based programs within the Walla Walla Public Schools District?

Currently Walla Walla High School and Lincoln High School offer contract based programs for credit retrieval.  

What is the Opportunity Program?

Opportunity Program is an off-site alternative learning program which offers area high school students more choices for earning credits in route to graduation. This program targets 5th and 6th year seniors, credit deficient students and students in need of a flexible schedule. 

Why did the district re-establish an off-site contract-based program?

The Opportunity Program offers students more flexibility to meet their scheduling needs, a chance to work one-on-one with a teacher for a portion of the week and an off-site location. Opportunity students work at their own pace and on subject areas related to their specific academic needs.

What classes will be offered?

A full range of courses, including English, Math, Social Studies and Science, for high school students grades 9-12. See Course Offerings.

Where is Opportunity Program located and what are its hours?

Our community-based, off-site program is located at the Carnegie Learning Center at 109 S. Palouse St. The program will be open Monday through Friday. The hours will be determined based on need.
