Smiles and wagging tails filled the Walla Walla Center for Children and Families today as Luke, a friendly Golden Retriever, and Jazz, a lovable Portuguese Water Dog, paid a special visit to the district’s youngest learners. Their visit was part of a new partnership with Go Team Therapy Dogs, a national organization dedicated to providing comfort and support through trained therapy dogs.
The Walla Walla Exchange Club is proud to announce the Youth of the Month award recipients for February: Lincoln High School seniors Hanna "Edelwin" Gilbreath and Erin Craven, Opportunity Program senior Kiara Bermudez, and Walla Walla Online senior Allison Snider. These exceptional students were recognized for their achievements at a special luncheon held on Feb. 24 at the Marcus Whitman Hotel.
Annually in February, the Walla Walla County Treasurer's Office mails tax statements to its residents, providing a breakdown of local taxes levied. All taxpayers who reside within the Walla Walla Public Schools boundaries are assessed the same school bond/levy rates broken down into five different line items -- State School 1, State School Part 2, SD #140 General, SD #140 Bond, SD #140 Capital.
